WHAT IS CASH HOUSIE?
Cash Housie is one of the most regular fundraising events in Sydney and all across New South Wales. Similar to Bingo, Cash Housie players buy books of tickets, hoping their numbers are called first so they can win the cash or prizes that are up for grabs.
The game is played with electronic PET devices or printed tickets marked with a set of numbered squares. Players buy sets of ticket books to play at the start of each session.
A Cash Housie Caller selects and announces numbers at random to the players in the room. Each player then proceeds to mark off the corresponding numbers called out if it matches any numbers on their tickets. A player wins if they can mark off all the numbers on their ticket first. This is called a Full House.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CASH HOUSE AND BINGO?
The main difference to Bingo is that in Cash Housie events, prizes can be cash because it is a Fundraising Event, whereas in Bingo, winnings can only be non-cash prizes.
Cash Housie prizes can range from less than $50 to $5,000. The prize values depend on the amount of money raised within that session from the ticket book sales.
In Australia, Cash Housie can only be conducted for the purpose of raising money for a registered charity. The benefiting
must receive at least 12.5% of the proceeds raised from selling the Housie books.
