GET INVOLVED

Come along to a Kids West event or create or your own, volunteer your time, make a donation, give through your workplace or become a corporate partner — there are so many ways to help.

However you choose to support Kids West, we thank you for doing a truly wonderful thing for sick kids in Western Sydney.

We are always happy to have people offer their time and expertise to continue the great work that has been undertaken for our kids over the past 20 years.
We couldn’t do it without you!

WHY SUPPORT A CHARITY?

Some people give to charity because they want to use their own good fortune to help others. Some identify with a specific cause they feel really passionate about. For others, it might be a life-changing experience that has sparked a desire to give.

Supporting a charity can make you feel really good by giving you the opportunity to create change, leave a positive legacy, and make a difference.

PICKING A CHARITY?

Think about the causes you want to support and find out about the charities working in those areas. Searching the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission is a good place to start.

What is the charity trying to achieve, and how are its activities working towards those goals? Do they match your own values? Find out about what Kids West do, and the impact we make in the community.

WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT A CHARITY?

Donations
If you donate to a deductible gift recipient (DGR) like Kids West, you may be able to claim a tax deduction for donations of $2 or more. If it’s a cause you’d like to support with ongoing donations you can choose to set-up regular giving.

If you want to make a big donation, or leave money or gifts to a charity in your will, consider getting professional advice to assist with your donation or bequest.

If you’d like to donate goods it’s worthwhile contacting the charity to ask what they need. Some charities request goods as part of a donation drive or campaign, at Kids West we have our Christmas appeal.

Volunteering
Volunteers can help charities in many ways, from helping at events to being a board member. If you want to volunteer it’s important that the charity’s purpose matches your values, and they need the skills you can offer.

You could also volunteer your time by setting up an individual fundraiser. It’s a good idea to contact the charity and ask them if they have any promotional resources you can use.

Corporate giving and partnerships
Corporate giving is a great way to help charities that matter to you. There are many benefits to corporate donations, including boosting employee morale, tax deductions, public relations, and giving back to the community that supports your business.
